Cases 63 & 64
case 63
Once the east dormitory fought with the west dormitory over a cat.
Nansen held a knife up to the cat and said: If you can speak a word, the cat lives.
No one could speak. Nansen cut the cat in two.

Joshu had been away. When Joshu returned, Nansen told him what happened.
Joshu took off his sandles and put them on his head, then he left the room, closing the door behind him.
Nansen said: If only he had been here, the cat would be alive.
